Program Updates
The WBAR program is a constantly evolving program with new features being added all of the time. Technology updates are deployed into the program as new technology becomes available. Some features originate from the ideas contributed by our users. We also addressed programming glitches and equipment compatibility problems when they are reported to technical support. All updates are free.
Updates vs Upgrades
There is a difference between an update and an upgrade. Upgrades are replacements to older programming that is no longer supported by Tri C. Users of earlier DOS and DOS/Windows hybrid programs will be required to upgrade to the latest version if they want to replace their programs with the newest features found in WBAR 5 for Windows.
WBAR can be easily updated from a link on our web site. The link is located in the Downloads section of the site. With each update, WBAR's version number changes. The web site will tell you which version is the current one and when the changes were deployed.
Here are some frequently asked questions about updates.
Q: Do I have to update my program every time an update is available ?
A: No, but you will not be able to use the newest features if you don't. Also, at some point, older versions may no longer be supported, so it is best to update as soon as you can.
Q: Will an update affect my data.
A: No. WBAR updates are to programming only unless specified in the update information.
Q: Where do I install updates ?
A : WBAR updates are to be installed on the machine where WBAR's data folder was installed. If you are on a network, this is the computer you use as the server with a shared folder containing the WBAR system. It is not necessary to update client workstations unless the update specifically tells you to do so. If you are on a single computer, updates apply to your computer.
Q: How can I find out what is different about the update ?
A: The Downloads page has a link to a page called What is New. This page lists the features that have been added and any fixes that have been made since the previous version.
This is what the Downloads page looks like. Find it at www.tricsystems.com/download/index.html
