Entering Security Deposits
WBAR allows you to hold an optional security deposit for each customer. To enter or add to the security deposit amount, click on Payments, Deposits. WBAR will ask for the account number of the account you want the deposit to go to. Type in the account number and click on OK.
In WBAR, a security deposit is entered much like any other payment. You can indicate the method of payment, the amount, and the portion, if any, that was received in cash. Click on the Post button to add the deposit transaction to the cash collection file. Click on the Abort button to abort any deposit entry you have already started. Click on the Browse button to view deposits held in the cash collection file. When you view or print out the cash collection report, you will see the security deposits you have collected shown in the Dep column of the report. You may have a mixture of regular bill payments, other payments, and security deposits payments in the collection file at the same time.

Security deposits are added to the customer's data record when the cash collection file is updated. Security deposit amounts are shown as a credit amount (-999.99) indicating that the money is due back to the customer if they pay in full. To see a list of all security deposits held, click on Reports, Security Deposits. See also Deposit Refunds.
