Editing Meter Readings

When you have entered meter readings into the meter reading collection file, you can edit your readings using the Readings, Edit option in the main menu.  Editing allows you to change the current and prior meter reading numbers as well as the dates. If you change the meter reading values, WBAR will automatically recalculate the correct usage, including any rollover.

Meter readings will be displayed in the order they were entered unless you check the Sort by Account checkbox, in which case the readings will be sorted by account number.

You can click on the Advance checkbox to have WBAR advance through each reading one record at a time as you press the Enter key through the edit fields. This feature is useful when editing several accounts at once. Click on the Missing Readings checkbox to have WBAR show you only those readings which have a zero Current reading. Click on the Flagged Only checkbox to have WBAR show you only those accounts which have been flagged at entry. Click on the Note icon in the table window to see any notes that were entered when the meter readings was created. Click on the Delete button if you want to delete the meter reading entirely. Click on the Find button if you want to locate a meter reading by account number. Click on the right or left arrows to have WBAR advance through the readings file.

WBAR shows the meter reading information along with the high, low, and average use for each account as you edit. The high, low, and average fields are update when the meter reading file itself is updated. You can print out the meter reading collection file using the Readings, View/Print option. Once you are satisfied that the readings are correct, you can update the meter reading collections file by clicking on Readings, Update. That will add the readings to the customer accounts and to the meter reading usage history file. You must update meter readings before you calculate new billing charges in order for the readings and usage to be shown on the new bills.
