Deleting a Customer Account
WBAR uses a marked record
method of removing unwanted customer accounts. Instead of simply erasing an
account, you can mark the account for deletion which causes the record to be
hidden from view until you Reorganize your data files. This way, you can
easily remove an account without having to go through the process of erasing
records and then resorting the file.
WBAR's audit trail will
not permit you to remove an account that has an open balance or an account
that has a security deposit on hand. This rule prevents you from accidentally
losing money by deleting an account that owes money to the district or that
the district owes back to the customer. WBAR accomplishes this by showing only
accounts that can be deleted, ie.., accounts that do not have a balance and do
not have a security deposit on hand.
The process for deleting
an account is quite simple. Click on Customers, Delete in the main menu. This
screen appears to explain the rules for deleting accounts.
Click on the Next button and this screen should appear.

Click on the delete
checkbox in the left column to indicate that you want to mark the account for
deletion. You can click on the Show Only Deleted button to have WBAR show you
only the accounts that are marked for deletion. Click it again to show all of
the accounts that can be deleted.
After you have marked the
accounts you want to have deleted, click on the Close button to return to the
main menu.
Remember that WBAR does
not actually delete the accounts you have marked for deletion until you run
the Reorganize files option in the System menu. Only then are the records
permanently removed. Until then, you can return to the Delete customer option
and remove the mark making the account visible again. Once accounts have been
Reorganized, the deleted records cannot be restored except from back ups of
your data files.
